Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work The Infant Christ And Saint John The Baptist As Children Embracing In A Landscape, Surrounded By A Classical Archway by Joos van Cleve. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 422,500.00 (€ 323,036.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joos van Cleve - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Madonna Of The Cherries, which sold at auction in October last year for USD 1,071,000.00 (€ 1,078,115.56).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2013 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Infant Christ And Saint John The Baptist As Children Embracing In A Landscape, Surrounded By A Classical Archway von Joos van Cleve zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 422.500,00 (€ 323.036,93) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Joos van Cleve mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Madonna Of The Cherries beobachtet, die im Oktober letzten Jahres für USD 1.071.000,00 (€ 1.078.115,56) versteigert wurde.
