Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Aix en Provence by Joop Stierhout was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in February 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 298.75. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joop Stierhout achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Viering van de geboorte van Prinses Irene: Vlaggen op het Damrak, Centraal Station in de achtergrond in October 2003 with an auction result of EUR 12,547.50.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Aix en Provence von Joop Stierhout im Februar 2004 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 298,75 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joop Stierhout erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Viering van de geboorte van Prinses Irene: Vlaggen op het Damrak, Centraal Station in de achtergrond im Oktober 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 12.547,50.
