Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Deflated Sculpture No. Iv by Jonathan Monk was auctioned at Sothebys in London in April 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 31,500.00 (€ 36,234.16). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jonathan Monk - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Deflated Sculpture no. I, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 94,500.00 (€ 88,062.62).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Deflated Sculpture No. Iv von Jonathan Monk im April 2021 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 31.500,00 (€ 36.234,16) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Jonathan Monk mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Deflated Sculpture no. I beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 94.500,00 (€ 88.062,62) versteigert wurde.
