Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Midnight, Lofoten Islands, Norway by Jonas Lie was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 25,000.00 (€ 15,817.78). Admittedly, works by Jonas Lie have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work On the Wings of the Morning in August 2020 with an auction result of USD 87,500.00 (€ 73,307.64).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Midnight, Lofoten Islands, Norway von Jonas Lie im März 2008 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 25.000,00 (€ 15.817,78) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jonas Lie auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit On the Wings of the Morning im August 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 73.307,64).
