Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Rv888, Finnmark, Norway - Google View by Jon Rafman was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2017, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 4,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 15,000.00 (€ 14,021.31). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jon Rafman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work New Age Demanded (Swerveman Silver), which sold at auction in February 2018 for USD 50,000.00 (€ 40,946.69).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Rv888, Finnmark, Norway - Google View von Jon Rafman im März 2017 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 4.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 15.000,00 (€ 14.021,31) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Jon Rafman mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit New Age Demanded (Swerveman Silver) beobachtet, die im Februar 2018 für USD 50.000,00 (€ 40.946,69) versteigert wurde.
