In May 2004 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Fishing by John William Hill. Here, the upper estimate of USD 18,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 19,120.00 (€ 15,650.32). Other works by John William Hill have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of USD 15,275.00 (€ 18,000.24) in October 2000 for the work Hudson River at Caldwell.

Im Mai 2004 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fishing von John William Hill zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 18.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 19.120,00 (€ 15.650,32) einen neuen Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von John William Hill haben noch höhere Preise erzielt - wir haben das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis von USD 15.275,00 (€ 18.000,24) im Oktober 2000 für die Arbeit Hudson River at Caldwell beobachtet.
