Auction result well in line with expectations
In May this year Christies in New York held the auction A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part I, which included the work Popeye by John Wesley. The price achieved of USD 352,800.00 (€ 331,143.23) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Other works by John Wesley have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in May 2008 the work Plague was auctioned for USD 577,000.00 (€ 370,822.62).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit Popeye von John Wesley zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 352.800,00 (€ 331.143,23) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben worden. Andere Arbeiten von John Wesley konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im Mai 2008 die Arbeit Plague für USD 577.000,00 (€ 370.822,62) versteigert.
