Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2005 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper, which included the work Chepstow Castle From Across The River Wye by John Webber. The price achieved of GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,667.71) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Webber achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A View In Nootka Sound in December 2017 with an auction result of GBP 224,750.00 (€ 252,923.20).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Chepstow Castle From Across The River Wye von John Webber zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.800,00 (€ 2.667,71) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Webber erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A View In Nootka Sound im Dezember 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 224.750,00 (€ 252.923,20).
