The work Study for Mount Whaleback by John Walter Wolseley was sold in the AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS auction at Christies in Sydney in August 2003. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 2,232.50 (€ 1,318.85), 24% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Walter Wolseley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Concerning the Making of Steel in August 2003 with an auction result of AUD 19,975.00 (€ 11,800.27).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Study for Mount Whaleback von John Walter Wolseley wurde im August 2003 in der Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS bei Christies in Sydney versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 2.232,50 (€ 1.318,85) und damit 24% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Walter Wolseley auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Concerning the Making of Steel im August 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 19.975,00 (€ 11.800,27).
