Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Samuel Iveson, three-quarter-length, in a yellow coat by John Verelst was sold in the British and Victorian Paintings auction at Christies in London in May 2005. It changed hands for a price of GBP 2,880.00 (€ 4,251.78) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Verelst - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a pink bodice and oyster satin skirt, holding a sprig of orange blossom in her left hand, a basket of flowers on a ledge beside her, an Italianate garden with a fountain and a classical building beyond, which sold at auction in November 2003 for GBP 6,462.50 (€ 9,277.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Samuel Iveson, three-quarter-length, in a yellow coat von John Verelst wurde im Mai 2005 in der Auktion British and Victorian Paintings bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 2.880,00 (€ 4.251,78) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Verelst mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a pink bodice and oyster satin skirt, holding a sprig of orange blossom in her left hand, a basket of flowers on a ledge beside her, an Italianate garden with a fountain and a classical building beyond beobachtet, die im November 2003 für GBP 6.462,50 (€ 9.277,01) versteigert wurde.
