Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2007 Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Pictures, which included the work Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in a brown and green robe, with a white cravat by John Verelst. The price achieved of GBP 2,280.00 (€ 3,386.33) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Verelst - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a pink bodice and oyster satin skirt, holding a sprig of orange blossom in her left hand, a basket of flowers on a ledge beside her, an Italianate garden with a fountain and a classical building beyond, which sold at auction in November 2003 for GBP 6,462.50 (€ 9,277.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in a brown and green robe, with a white cravat von John Verelst zur Versteigerung kam. Für andere Arbeiten von John Verelst mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a pink bodice and oyster satin skirt, holding a sprig of orange blossom in her left hand, a basket of flowers on a ledge beside her, an Italianate garden with a fountain and a classical building beyond beobachtet, die im November 2003 für GBP 6.462,50 (€ 9.277,01) versteigert wurde.
