In March 2000 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work Portrait of Mr Osborn, half-length, in a brown coat and waistcoat and white stock, feigned oval by John Verelst. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,990.00 (€ 4,972.51), 50% above the upper estimate. Other works by John Verelst have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 6,462.50 (€ 9,277.01) in November 2003 for the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a pink bodice and oyster satin skirt, holding a sprig of orange blossom in her left hand, a basket of flowers on a ledge beside her, an Italianate garden with a fountain and a classical building beyond.

Im März 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Mr Osborn, half-length, in a brown coat and waistcoat and white stock, feigned oval von John Verelst zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.990,00 (€ 4.972,51) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
