Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2003 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures and Works on Paper, which included the work A drover with cattle by a thatched cottage by John Syer. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 329.00 (€ 472.36) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Syer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Salvaging A Wreck, Dunstanborough, Northumberland in September 2004 with an auction result of GBP 9,560.00 (€ 13,927.71).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Pictures and Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit A drover with cattle by a thatched cottage von John Syer zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 329,00 (€ 472,36) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Syer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Salvaging A Wreck, Dunstanborough, Northumberland im September 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.560,00 (€ 13.927,71).
