Despite a disappointment, a good price for John Sturgess
When the work Going to post; Jumping the brook; Crossing the road; and The run in by John Sturgess was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 18,500.00 (€ 23,532.81). Despite this disappointing result, Going to post; Jumping the brook; Crossing the road; and The run in is the most expensive artwork by John Sturgess that we have observed at auction so far.
