Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work A gypsy water-carrier of Seville by John Phillip was sold in the British Art: Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in December 2019. It achieved a price of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 11,080.15), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 17%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Phillip achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Early Career of Murillo - 1634 'He was reduced to earn his daily bread by painting coarse and hasty pictures for the Feria (weekly fair) held in a broad street branching from the northern end of the Old Alameda and in front of the old church of ' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 94,650.00 (€ 138,186
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
