This artwork by John Roddam Spencer Stanhope achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2020. In the The Joe Setton Collection: from Pre-Raphaelites to Last Romantics auction, the work Cupid and Psyche sold for GBP 175,000.00 (€ 195,490.60) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Roddam Spencer Stanhope - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Penelope, which sold at auction in December 2017 for GBP 645,000.00 (€ 725,853.02).

Dieses Kunstwerk von John Roddam Spencer Stanhope erzielte im Dezember 2020 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Joe Setton Collection: from Pre-Raphaelites to Last Romantics wurde die Arbeit Cupid and Psyche für GBP 175.000,00 (€ 195.490,60) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 60.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Roddam Spencer Stanhope mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Penelope beobachtet, die im Dezember 2017 für GBP 645.000,00 (€ 725.853,02) versteigert wurde.
