Auction result well in line with expectations
In July last year Christies in London held the auction The Isabel Goldsmith Collection: Selected Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist Art, which included the work Age and beauty by John Roddam Spencer Stanhope. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 10,080.00 (€ 12,037.31) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Roddam Spencer Stanhope achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Penelope in December 2017 with an auction result of GBP 645,000.00 (€ 725,853.02).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion The Isabel Goldsmith Collection: Selected Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Age and beauty von John Roddam Spencer Stanhope zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 10.080,00 (€ 12.037,31) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Roddam Spencer Stanhope erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Penelope im Dezember 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 645.000,00 (€ 725.853,02).
