Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A wooded river landscape with travellers on a track at dawn; and A wooded river landscape with an angler and other figures conversing on a bank at dusk by John Rathbone was auctioned at Christies in London in April 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 12,669.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by John Rathbone have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in June 2008 the work Landscapes Near Naples was auctioned for GBP 11,875.00 (€ 15,010.40).
