Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2003 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PICTURES, which included the work Holy water by John Phillip. The price achieved of GBP 2,350.00 (€ 3,274.14) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Phillip achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Early Career of Murillo - 1634 'He was reduced to earn his daily bread by painting coarse and hasty pictures for the Feria (weekly fair) held in a broad street branching from the northern end of the Old Alameda and in front of the old church of ' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 94,650.00 (€ 138,186

Im Mai 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Holy water von John Phillip zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.350,00 (€ 3.274,14) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.000,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Phillip erzielen.
