Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2007 Christies in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary Australian ArtIncluding Works by New Zealand and South African Artists, which included the work Paysanne Aux Tournesols by John Peter Russell. The price achieved of GBP 96,500.00 (€ 131,127.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Peter Russell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Australian Boys On The Beach, Belle-Ile in May 2007 with an auction result of AUD 1,800,000.00 (€ 1,106,786.59).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 96.500,00 (€ 131.127,13) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Peter Russell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Australian Boys On The Beach, Belle-Ile im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 1.800.000,00 (€ 1.106.786,59).
