This artwork by John Napper achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2016. In the Modern British and Irish Art auction, the work Summer garden sold for GBP 2,625.00 (€ 3,119.07) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Napper; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Autobus sold at auction in October 2012 with the realized price of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,905.79).
