In December 2020 Christies in London held the auction 300 Years Of British Drawings, which included the work An angler by a river at sunset by John Linnell. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,250.00 (€ 12,567.25), 41% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Linnell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Return of Ulysses in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 171,650.00 (€ 250,603.59).

Im Dezember 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion 300 Years Of British Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit An angler by a river at sunset von John Linnell zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 12.567,25) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Linnell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Return of Ulysses im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 171.650,00 (€ 250.603,59).
