Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Le marabout by John-Lewis Shonborn was sold in the Majorelle and his Contemporaries auction at Artcurial in Marrakech in December 2019. The price achieved of MAD 10,400.00 (€ 991.18) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as MAD 8,800.00 – 13,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John-Lewis Shonborn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Marchand D'Oranges in May 2014 with an auction result of EUR 13,650.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Le marabout von John-Lewis Shonborn wurde im Dezember 2019 in der Auktion Majorelle and his Contemporaries bei Artcurial in Marrakesch versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von MAD 10.400,00 (€ 991,18) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit MAD 8.800,00 – 13.200,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John-Lewis Shonborn erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Marchand D'Oranges im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 13.650,00.
