Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Le Capelain could be acquired at Christies in London in March 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Christie's Interiors Including Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours From The Collection of The Late John Appleby auction, the work The old fish woman changed hands for GBP 125.00 (€ 141.44) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Le Capelain achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shipping at dusk in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,286.25).
