This artwork by John Kelly achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in October 2011. In the Modern and Contemporary Australian Art with Works by 20th Century African Artists auction, the work Roo and Sun sold for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,761.26) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Kelly achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Three Cows in a Pile, 2014 in August last year with an auction result of AUD 141,450.00 (€ 96,492.37).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Kelly erzielte im Oktober 2011 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Australian Art with Works by 20th Century African Artists wurde die Arbeit Roo and Sun für GBP 3.250,00 (€ 3.761,26) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Kelly erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Three Cows in a Pile, 2014 im August letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 141.450,00 (€ 96.492,37).
