In September 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Irish Art, including Property from the Collection of Sir MichaelSmurfit, which included the work Castlehaven by John Kelly. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,710.00 (€ 11,809.52), 53% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Kelly have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Three Cows in a Pile, 2014 in August last year with an auction result of AUD 141,450.00 (€ 96,492.37).

Im September 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Irish Art, including Property from the Collection of Sir MichaelSmurfit durch, in der auch die Arbeit Castlehaven von John Kelly zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.710,00 (€ 11.809,52) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Kelly auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Three Cows in a Pile, 2014 im August letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 141.450,00 (€ 96.492,37).
