Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2007 Christies in London held the auction British, Continental & Russian Pictures, which included the work Portrait of Sarah Briana Amshewitz, the artist's wife, standing half-length, in a black dress with a white shawl and a pearl necklace by John Henry Amshewitz. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 720.00 (€ 1,064.35) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Henry Amshewitz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Death'S Arrest in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 37,500.00 (€ 31,517.90).
