Despite a disappointment, a good price for John Henry Amshewitz
When the work Death'S Arrest by John Henry Amshewitz was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 37,500.00 (€ 31,517.90). Despite this disappointing result, Death'S Arrest is the most expensive artwork by John Henry Amshewitz that we have observed at auction so far.
