The work The death of Prince William, son of Henry I by John Francis Rigaud was sold in the British and Victorian Paintings auction at Christies in London in September 2005. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,327.62), 53% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Francis Rigaud have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Lady Jane Mildmay, seated three-quarter-length, in a white silk dress playing the harp in January 2005 with an auction result of USD 84,000.00 (€ 64,372.75).

Die Arbeit The death of Prince William, son of Henry I von John Francis Rigaud wurde im September 2005 in der Auktion British and Victorian Paintings bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.400,00 (€ 12.327,62) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Francis Rigaud auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Lady Jane Mildmay, seated three-quarter-length, in a white silk dress playing the harp im Januar 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 84.000,00 (€ 64.372,75).
