Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Portrait of the artist with his wife and children, in his studio by John Francis Rigaud was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May this year. It achieved a price of USD 17,640.00 (€ 16,557.16), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 18%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Francis Rigaud - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Lady Jane Mildmay, seated three-quarter-length, in a white silk dress playing the harp, which sold at auction in January 2005 for USD 84,000.00 (€ 64,372.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Portrait of the artist with his wife and children, in his studio von John Francis Rigaud kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 17.640,00 (€ 16.557,16) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 18%. Für andere Arbeiten von John Francis Rigaud mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of Lady Jane Mildmay, seated three-quarter-length, in a white silk dress playing the harp beobachtet, die im Januar 2005 für USD 84.000,00 (€ 64.372,75) versteigert wurde.
