This artwork by John Firth-Smith achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Melbourne in November 2008. In the Important Australian Art auction, the work Australian Starting Is Finishing sold for AUD 26,400.00 (€ 13,613.86) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Firth-Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sounds, which sold at auction in April 2006 for AUD 59,750.00 (€ 35,938.03).

Dieses Kunstwerk von John Firth-Smith erzielte im November 2008 bei Sothebys in Melbourne einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Australian Art wurde die Arbeit Australian Starting Is Finishing für AUD 26.400,00 (€ 13.613,86) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von AUD 15.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Firth-Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sounds beobachtet, die im April 2006 für AUD 59.750,00 (€ 35.938,03) versteigert wurde.
