Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Australian Pittwater Through The Smoke From My Pipe by John Firth-Smith was auctioned at Sothebys in Sydney in May 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 8,400.00 (€ 5,165.00). Admittedly, works by John Firth-Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sounds in April 2006 with an auction result of AUD 59,750.00 (€ 35,938.03).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Australian Pittwater Through The Smoke From My Pipe von John Firth-Smith im Mai 2007 bei Sothebys in Sydney versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 8.400,00 (€ 5.165,00) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Firth-Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sounds im April 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 59.750,00 (€ 35.938,03).
