The work Australian Open by John Firth-Smith was sold in the Important Australian Art auction at Sothebys in Sydney in November 2007. It achieved a price of AUD 28,800.00 (€ 17,349.02), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 44%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Firth-Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sounds, which sold at auction in April 2006 for AUD 59,750.00 (€ 35,938.03).

Die Arbeit Australian Open von John Firth-Smith wurde im November 2007 in der Auktion Important Australian Art bei Sothebys in Sydney versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von AUD 28.800,00 (€ 17.349,02) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 44%. Für andere Arbeiten von John Firth-Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sounds beobachtet, die im April 2006 für AUD 59.750,00 (€ 35.938,03) versteigert wurde.
