Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2006 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art & Dreaming Spires; Watercolours of Oxford and Cambridge Colleges, which included the work Queen's College, Library by John Doyle. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 500.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 504.00 (€ 748.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Doyle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Taking an Airing in Hyde Park, which sold at auction in May 2014 for GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,611.69).
