Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July last year Bonhams in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art, which included the work Untitled (Striped Abstracts) the largest 34.5 x 27.5cm (13 9/16 x 10 13/16in). (unframed) by John Copnall. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,402.50 (€ 1,674.83), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Copnall have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Abstract Forms On White No.1 in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,426.74).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Striped Abstracts) the largest 34.5 x 27.5cm (13 9/16 x 10 13/16in). (unframed) von John Copnall zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.402,50 (€ 1.674,83) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Copnall auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Abstract Forms On White No.1 im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.000,00 (€ 11.426,74).
