Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Selected Self-Portraits (Genitals) by John Coplans was sold in the Contemporary Photographs auction at Sothebys in New York in September 2019. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,450.71), 16% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Coplans - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Self-Portrait, Frieze No. 4, 3 Panels', which sold at auction in March 2018 for USD 32,500.00 (€ 26,379.87).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Selected Self-Portraits (Genitals) von John Coplans wurde im September 2019 in der Auktion Contemporary Photographs bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 7.450,71) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Coplans mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 'Self-Portrait, Frieze No. 4, 3 Panels' beobachtet, die im März 2018 für USD 32.500,00 (€ 26.379,87) versteigert wurde.
