Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Mary Frances Wilson, Seated Three-Quarter-Length, In A White Dress, In An Interior by John Collier was sold in the British and Victorian Paintings auction at Christies in London in November 2005. The price achieved of GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,644.43) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Collier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Sleeping Beauty in June 2008 with an auction result of GBP 433,250.00 (€ 547,642.53).
