In August 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Scottish & Sporting Pictures, which included the work River Trout by John Bucknell Russell. The result of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 7,440.18) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Bucknell Russell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Salmon on a river bank, which sold at auction in October 2000 for GBP 11,750.00 (€ 20,084.11).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im August 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Scottish & Sporting Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit River Trout von John Bucknell Russell zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 6.000,00 (€ 7.440,18) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Bucknell Russell mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Salmon on a river bank beobachtet, die im Oktober 2000 für GBP 11.750,00 (€ 20.084,11) versteigert wurde.
