Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Views of Wales and Derbyshire by John Boydell was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2021. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,134.00 (€ 1,352.62) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Boydell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work William Penn's Treaty with the Indians, When He Founded the Province of Pennsylvania in North America 1681 (Fowble 130), which sold at auction in January 2000 for USD 4,025.00 (€ 4,125.24).

Die Arbeit Views of Wales and Derbyshire von John Boydell kam im Dezember 2021 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.134,00 (€ 1.352,62) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Boydell mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit William Penn's Treaty with the Indians, When He Founded the Province of Pennsylvania in North America 1681 (Fowble 130) beobachtet, die im Januar 2000 für USD 4.025,00 (€ 4.125,24) versteigert wurde.
