Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2009 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & Traditionalist Art, which included the work Scene in Glen Nevis, Scotland; and Scene in Glen Ogle, Scotland by John Barker. It changed hands for a price of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,228.01) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Barker have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The cattle auction in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 15,275.00 (€ 24,510.74).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2009 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian & Traditionalist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Scene in Glen Nevis, Scotland; and Scene in Glen Ogle, Scotland von John Barker zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.228,01) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 4.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Barker auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The cattle auction im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 15.275,00 (€ 24.510,74).
