A top price for John Bagnold Burgess - as previously expected
In October 2003 Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work The Meeting of East and West by John Bagnold Burgess. The price achieved of USD 69,310.00 (€ 59,703.68) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Meeting of East and West is the most expensive artwork by John Bagnold Burgess that we have observed at auctions so far.
