Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2002 Christies in London held the auction VICTORIAN PICTURES, which included the work A SPANISH POST OFFICE by John Bagnold Burgess. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 12,547.50 (€ 19,648.74). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Bagnold Burgess - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Meeting of East and West, which sold at auction in October 2003 for USD 69,310.00 (€ 59,703.68).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion VICTORIAN PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit A SPANISH POST OFFICE von John Bagnold Burgess zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 12.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 12.547,50 (€ 19.648,74) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von John Bagnold Burgess mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Meeting of East and West beobachtet, die im Oktober 2003 für USD 69.310,00 (€ 59.703,68) versteigert wurde.
