In September 2001 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work The Harvesters by John Atkinson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,997.50 (€ 3,225.11), 33% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Atkinson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Appleby Horse Fair, Cumbria, which sold at auction in February 2007 for GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,894.78).

Im September 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Harvesters von John Atkinson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.997,50 (€ 3.225,11) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Atkinson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Appleby Horse Fair, Cumbria beobachtet, die im Februar 2007 für GBP 6.000,00 (€ 8.894,78) versteigert wurde.
