Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2004 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction 19TH CENTURY EUROPEAN ART, which included the work A calm river estuary by Johannes Hilverdink. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 8,962.50 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johannes Hilverdink - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Dutch View Of Jerusalem, which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 20,900.00 (€ 26,585.71).
