In October 2009 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Art, which included the work The seamstresses by Johannes Cornelius Mertz. The price achieved of EUR 3,750.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The seamstresses is the most expensive artwork by Johannes Cornelius Mertz that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im Oktober 2009 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The seamstresses von Johannes Cornelius Mertz zur Versteigerung kam.
