Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Le Portrait: The Absent Lover by Johannes Cornelius Mertz was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2004. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 2,629.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Johannes Cornelius Mertz have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in October 2009 the work The seamstresses was auctioned for EUR 3,750.00.

Die Arbeit Le Portrait: The Absent Lover von Johannes Cornelius Mertz kam im September 2004 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 2.629,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
