Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2000 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Pictures, which included the work A Rhenish harbour with a man-o'-war firing a salute by Johann van der Hagen. The price achieved of GBP 10,575.00 (€ 18,103.97) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Other works by Johann van der Hagen have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in March 2001 the work Double portrait of a young boy and girl, the boy, full-length, in a gold-embroidered blue jacket with red wrap, gesturing towards a man-o-war flying the white ensign, the girl, seated full-length, in a gold dress and green wrap, a bird perched on her was auctioned for GBP 17,625.00 (€ 28,439.70).
