Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The Country Fair by Jan Theodor de Bry was sold in the Old Master Prints auction at Christies in New York in January 2019. The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,000.00 (€ 2,619.17), 20% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Theodor de Bry achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Florilegium renovatum et auctum, Frankfurt, 1641, coloured plates, calf gilt in May last year with an auction result of GBP 107,100.00 (€ 125,992.95).
