In November 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction Latin American Art, which included the work Vista Del Valle De México Con El Popocatépetl Y El Iztaccihuatl Al Fondo by Johann Moritz Rugendas. The »bidding war« ended at USD 197,000.00 (€ 144,789.06), 31% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Johann Moritz Rugendas have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Independencia market, Lima in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 725,000.00 (€ 847,642.63).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 31 % übertroffen
Im November 2013 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Latin American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Vista Del Valle De México Con El Popocatépetl Y El Iztaccihuatl Al Fondo von Johann Moritz Rugendas zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 197.000,00 (€ 144.789,06) und damit 31% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Johann Moritz Rugendas auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Independencia market, Lima im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 725.000,00 (€ 847.642,63).
