Auction result well in line with expectations

It changed hands for a price of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 86,994.62) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Admittedly, works by Johann Moritz Rugendas have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Independencia market, Lima in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 725,000.00 (€ 847,642.63).

Die Arbeit The fiesta of San Juan in Amencaes von Johann Moritz Rugendas kam im Oktober 2019 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 75.000,00 (€ 86.994,62) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 60.000,00 – 80.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Johann Moritz Rugendas auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Independencia market, Lima im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 725.000,00 (€ 847.642,63).
